Liver Cancer

  • Liver cancer has been the third leading cause of cancer death in Hong Kong for years. In 2023, 1,408 persons died from liver cancer, accounting for 9.5% of all cancer deaths. The crude death rates for male and female were 30.0 and 9.2 per 100,000 population of respective sex.

  • In the years between 1981 and 2023, there was a general decreasing trend in age-standardised death rate due to liver cancer. In general, the age-standardised death rate due to liver cancer was higher in male. The age-standardised death rate showed a decreasing trend in recent years.
