- In 2022, 101,464 inpatient discharges and deaths were related to external causes of morbidity and mortality, accounting for 5.2% of all inpatient discharges and deaths.

- In 2022, 1,961 deaths were related to external causes of mortality and morbidity, accounting for 3.2% of all registered deaths. The crude death rates for male and female were 37.3 and 17.8 per 100,000 population of respective sex.

- The age-standardized death rate for both sexes due to external causes of morbidity and mortality decreased generally in recent years.

- About 50% of the causes of death were due to intentional self-harm. In 2022, the three leading causes of death due to external causes of morbidity and mortality were intentional self-harm, falls and accidental poisoning.
